The Opportunity of Intra-African Trade

In this module we will take a look at the untapped potential of intra-African trade from the perspective of small and medium sized enterprises SMEs.

On completion of this module, you will be able to:

• Identify the reasons why intra-African trade is low compared to other continents and how this issue is being addressed.
• Assess the scope of the serious issue of nontariff barriers (NTBs) that negatively impact intraAfrican trade.
• Evaluate the challenge of poor infrastructure faced by exporters wanting to engage in intra-African trade and determine steps to assess market opportunities within the current infrastructural framework in Africa.
• Evaluate the challenge of sufficient access to finance and information for African SMEs to take advantage of intra-African trade opportunities.
