Market Access Conditions

This module has been developed in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC).

This module uses a problem-based approach to introduce the key concepts of developing an export market. It assumes you have already completed the general module titled DEVELOPING YOUR AFRICAN MARKET. If you have not completed them yet, you can access the modules through the AFRACAD catalogue.   


The module offers practical solutions to ensure you can export in compliance with the regulations of your chosen export markets avoiding the consequences of getting things wrong including possible delays in transporting your goods added costs and possible reputational damage.

 

You will get practical advice on navigating the rules of the AfCFTA and other regional trade agreements helping you to benefit from the tariff reductions they may offer Finally it will guide you through the implications that differing documentary requirements and tariff rules may have on your export strategy.


On completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Ensure that you complete the correct documentation for your product.
  • Know how and where to learn about the standards and certifications that may be required for your product and chosen markets.
  • Apply an understanding of Rules of Origin in free trade agreements to benefit from reduced tariffs.
